                  Introduction
Hello!I am Jun Long from class 2D. I will be writing an introduction about myself. I came from China and I am 16 years old this year. My age might not be a sec 2 student's age because I came to Singapore when I was studying primary 2 in China. I got degraded to primary 1 when I joined a primary school in Singapore. My primary school is PeiTongPrimarySchool. My cca is choir, actually I feel that I am not that good in singing but I think the instructor choose me because my cca in my primary school is also choir. I like to play basketball and computer games when I am free. I also loves to listen to music when I am free, mostly raps and Chinese songs. My favorite subjects are Maths, Chinese and PE. I like Maths because it allows me to think using numbers. As for Chinese, I like Chinese because I myself came from China so I have some advantages for Chinese. I like PE as we could train our body but also have fun at the same time. I always thought that secondary school will be fun but when I came to River Valley, I found out that although secondary school is fun but it's also tough. Especially now there is more subjects, for example , science turns into chemistry, physics and biology. Sometimes I really feel stressed about the subjects and I was scared that could I do well in tests but when the teachers teach us, I found out that it's not that hard if  I revise on notes and textbooks. This is all about me and I guess my introduction ends here. BYE~
Why Singapore must not be complacent
As many countries are catching up, we should not be complacent and keep work harder so that we will still be the top. If we are complacent, we would stop working hard and Singapore will not be the top. Singapore is our home, we should unite together to make Singapore a better country, although we  have great achievements done,we should not be proud and keep on working harder.
Chingay parade 2016 - Lights of Legacy,Better Singapore
A few weeks ago, on the 30th of January, the year 2 cohort went for the Chingay Parade performance. Although it was just a practice, everyone put in their effort in performing. Before we went for the performance, one of the people who is in charge of the Chingay Parade came to our school to give us a talk. The first formal Chingay Parade in Singapore was mooted by the then- Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew who was also the chairman of the People's Association(PA) . Chingay, with all its noise and gaiety, would compensate for the ban on  firecrackers, a customary Chinese New Year practice to drive away evil spirits. For its first street parade on 4 February 1973, the PA teamed up with the Singapore National Pugilistic Federation for a grand show in the Year of the Ox, depicting aspects of Chinese culture- dragon and lion dances, martial arts and street opera. I think the purpose of the Chingay Parade 2016 is to celebrate the success of our nation's growth from a country that very less people know to a well known country and also the legacy of being a multi-racial country for about 50 years. The parade is magnificent, although I have seen Chingay for about 3 times, I still cannot forget the excitement every time I watch the Chingay. The performers did a splendid job of combining people from different countries to perform the performances. I, as student, could even see the effort they put for this parade. I am also really touched as the performers is not chosen but instead, they volunteer themselves. This is really a touching act as residents volunteer themselves, gave up their own free time to rehearse the performance not only with Singaporeans but also people from various countries, such as: Japan, Korea, Malaysian, Chinese and Indians. I think the organizer have successfully fulfilled the purpose as we can all see the contented look on everyone's face even the performers. I am sure everyone is touched by the performance.

        The extra in the ordinary
This is a picture of our RV60 mass display. The mass display may look significant but it will not look as significant as it is now if we did not put in the hard work in practicing it. Before the mass display, we put in our 100% effort in practicing it, although there are complains but we still persevere on. When we perform the mass display on RV60, we were surprised yet also touched as many of the audience cried. They were mostly ex-students from RV. We were touched as they care so much about RV even though they are already not RV students. Thus, in conclusion, I think that the RV mass display was a very memorable occasion and that I was very proud of pulling the performance off as a school and being a RVian.
        Reflection of RV60
RV60 celebration is important as it marks the school's history and the start of another milestone in its history. It is also important to me as I am also a RVian and I have the duty to participate in this type of meaningful school activities. I was surprised and touched when I see that most of the audience cried, most of them were ex-RV students and they were touched by our performances as the performance shows that we care about RV as we put in our best performance. I am very proud to be a RV student and I feel that our teacher is caring and they really care for us. They understand that we have cca on Tuesday and Friday so they give us less homework on these two days. I feel that RV always provide us with programs that help to develop all round like leadership program and they even bring us overseas to broaden our knowledge. RV is like the second home to me. RV always have various special rooms to make a more conducive environment for us to study and we could also discuss with our friends there, for example like the junior lounge and senior lounge.
       Does being rich bring happiness?
I think that being rich does not necessarily bring happiness as most countries that are not rich are often happy as they are satisfied with their lives not like those who are rich. The riches always like to buy things that are expensive and show off but that does not makes them happy, whereas the poor are often happy as they have a satisfying attitude and they are grateful for what they have. I think that we should be like the poor and be grateful for what we have, not keep wanting new and expensive stuff as that does not makes us happy as we would have a tendency to want more. Luckily for us, Singapore does not have major problem of poverty. Many of us complain that we do not have this or we do not have that, for example, games or toys when we have many of those. We should not take what we have for granted, even though we live in a prosperous country, we should cherish what we have, only if we know how to cherish what we have,we then could be happy. Hence, being rich does not bring happiness, unless we could cherish the things that we have and not take the stuff that we have for granted.
Reflection on the One-child and Two-child policy
3 things I found out:
1.The one-child policy and two-child policy were to curb the rapidly growing population.
2.China started two-child policy recently.
3.There would be better healthcare, education and opportunities given to that one child if they give birth only to one child.

2 perceptions I have gained:
1.It was due to the demands of the people that the policies were reversed.
2. Parents wanted the best for their child so they think that one child would be good.

1 question that I have;
1.Is there a better way of treating this problem of aging population?
Why must Singapore not be complacent
